Homework will now consist of weekly times table champions, spellings reading and online maths and English activities.

This week, online homework has been set on Purple Mash and Mathletics. We are completing a report all about the seven vital organs in our bodies and six multiplication tasks. There are paper copies of homework available if needed.

This week in spelling, we are looking at some of the unusual letter strings in words.

The words are:

yacht, bruise, pacific, celebration, languages, cruise, vehicle, nougat, guarantee, queue, immediately, pneumonia

We will have our spelling test of these words on 20.01.2020

Our times table challenge this week is...

6 and 9 times tables!

In Maths, we will be learning about multiplication and division. We are currently focussing on multiples, factors and prime numbers before moving onto mental and written strategies for these.

In English, we are looking at re-creating a non-chronological report.

We have looked at examples of these and found the features. Next, we will innovate the WAGOLL text, before writing our own non-chronological report.

We also have daily sentence focus work linked to the text type we are studying. For a non-chronological report, we will be looking at cohesion in writing and technical vocabulary.

Class reader

We are reading "The Witches" by Roald Dahl.

Ask your child about this story and see what they can remember!

Our new topic is...

During this topic, we will be discovering when and where the ancient Greeks lived, how they lived in separate city states, how their armies fought and were structured and the gods they worshipped.  We will also look at Greek life, achievements and the influence on the western world.

Any extra research will be rewarded with a learning goals sticker!
