Welcome to Indigo Class's page! We are a year 3/4 class with 28 pupils altogether. Our class teacher is Miss Hollick. We are supported by Miss Greenwood, our cover supervisor and Miss Margiotta, our HLTA.
In this half term, we will be focusing on the local area as a topic. We will be exploring the geographical features of Rothwell; as well as looking at the history of the area and how it has changed over time.
English: We have just started learning about narratives; more specifically, traditional tales. We are looking at the other side to the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Our version is called 'The Good Wolf'.
Maths: This half term we are focusing on multiplication and division facts. We will then move onto to using these facts in our fractions work.
Science: We are continuing to look at the human body and nutrition at the moment. We are exploring the digestive system and teeth, muscles and skeletons. We will then move onto looking at animals and their habitats.
DT and Art: We will be learning how to draw animals using tonal shading, cross-hatching, and blending.
Music: In Music we will be exploring R'n'B style music. We will learn to play and read the notes C, D, E + F.

Important things to Know:
PE lessons will take place outside on Tuesday's and Friday's. Children can come to school on those days in their PE kit. Please insure it is weather appropriate.
There will be no swimming starting in September.
Children can access Bug Club, Times Table Rockstars, Purple Mash and Mathletics from home.
Log on details are inside their reading records.
Please find the links below:
Times Table Rockstars:
Reading records are checked on Monday's and Thursday's to ensure the children have read 5 pages. However, due to the current situation, no reading books will be sent home. Instead, they can use Bug Club and read online but they will also have access to books within school.
Children can use TTRockstars to get extra help with learning their times tables. They can battle each other and set personal challenges in order to recall their times tables faster.
Every week we focus on a times table and the children will get the chance to battle for TT Champion.
This week we are focussing on: 3/8x
The children also have a times table book in school.
Spellings: They will be sent home with a set of spellings on a Thursday and tested the following Thursday. This can be up to 10 spellings per week.
Maths: Maths homework will be online using Mathletics. It will be based on what they are learning or have learnt throughout the year.
English: This will be set using Purple Mash. It may be linked to a unit of English they are learning such as poems or it may be linked to their humanities or science topics.
