Indigo Class

Welcome to Indigo Class's page! We are a Year 3 class with 29 pupils altogether. Our class teacher is Miss Hollick. We are supported by Mrs Ellis and Mrs Irving, our HLTAs and Mrs Wadsworth, our cover supervisor. Mrs Guiseley will also be in class listening to children read.

Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us for the 'meet the teacher' meeting. If you missed it, please find the slides here.

Our topic is...

Ancient Egypt

Over the next few weeks in science, we are looking at forces and magnets.

In PE we are looking at creating our own 'Walk like an Egyptian' dance using everything we have learnt about dance movement. Using different levels, speed and direction.

In English we will be publishing our instruction text about the mummification of a pharaoh and in mathematics we will be moving on from place value onto addition and subtraction.

Geography will involve looking at the directions on a compass and history will include looking at the Egyptian gods.

Important things to Know:

PE

PE is on Tuesdays and Fridays so please ensure children bring kits on both days. Our PE slot on a Friday is the last lesson of the day. After speaking with other members of staff and some parents, it has been decided that the children will go home on a Friday in their PE kit to ensure they have the most time possible learning.

Great news! Children can access bug club and mathletics from home.

Log on details will be sent home shortly.

Reading

Reading records are checked every Monday and Thursday. We will also try and change any reading books that need changing on these days too.

Please ensure that planners are brought to school everyday.

Homework

Mathletics homework is set on a Monday and due to be completed online by the following Monday.

Children will be tested on their spellings on a Thursday and given new spellings to learn for the following week.

Times tables homework books will go home everyday as extra times tables practise. This week the children are completing their 4 x tables in the books.
