Welcome to Indigo Class's page! We are a Year 3 class with 29 pupils altogether. Our class teacher is Miss Hollick. We are supported by Mrs Ellis and Mrs Irving, our HLTAs. Our school governor is Rachel Ferraby.
Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us for the 'meet the teacher' meeting. If you missed it, please find the slides here.
Our topic is...
The Stone Age
Over the term we will be learning all about when the Stone Age occurred. This week we will be exploring agriculture in the Stone Age and how their creations have influenced us today.
In science, we have started a new unit of work all about rocks and soil which will link in nicely with our topic. We are going to to be asking the children “Were dinosaurs real?” and see what type of rock can be used as evidence.
English will also use our new topic but we will begin to look at newspaper reports and what key features of them are. This will lead us onto eventually writing our own newspaper report about an area of the Stone Age. We are going to create some punchy headlines for our newspaper reports!
Our computing session this week will begin planning our Stone Age documentary by making a storyboard of each scene in the documentary. This will include everything we have learnt so far..
Art and DT will involve researching Stonehenge and seeing what materials they could use to create a picture of it.
Finally, my maths group are continuing to look at multiplication and division.
PE is on Tuesdays and Fridays so please ensure children bring kits on both days. This involves indoor and outdoor PE kits. Our PE slot on a Friday is the last lesson of the day. After speaking with other members of staff and some parents, it has been decided that the children will go home on a Friday in their PE kit to ensure they have the most time possible learning.
Children can access Bug Club, Times Table Rockstars, Purple Mash and Mathletics from home.
Log on details are inside their reading records.

Times Table Rockstars:
Reading records are checked every Monday and Thursday. We will also try and change any reading books that need changing on these days too.
Please ensure that planners are brought to school everyday.
Mathletics homework is set on a Monday and due to be completed online by the following Monday.
Learn By Hearts will be sent home by the children's maths teacher and they will be tested on the maths fact the following week.
Children will be tested on their spellings on a Thursday and given new spellings to learn for the following week. This weeks spelling rule is based on contractions; for example, didn’t, couldn’t and isn’t.
Times tables homework books will go home everyday as extra times tables practise. This week the children are completing their 8 x tables.
On Monday, I (Miss Hollick) will send home a writing task. They have to write 500 words and they will be entered into a competition to win a prize.
