Headteacher's Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. I extend a warm welcome on behalf of the staff, governors and children of Rothwell Victoria Junior School.

Rothwell Victoria is a good school (Ofsted May 2023) that places great importance on the success of its pupils. We believe children thrive in an environment where they are safe and cared for, where they are challenged to achieve their best and where they are happy in the knowledge they are amongst friends. We are very proud of our friendly, welcoming school environment.

We have high expectations and continually strive to improve the learning and teaching opportunities we are able to offer our pupils. Our curriculum prepares children for their future, is exciting and engaging, capturing their interests and promoting an enthusiastic and active approach to learning. We also prepare our children for adulthood by developing sound learning behaviours including: resilience, co-operation, organisation and enquiry. We embrace a culture of independence resulting in confident learners who will experience success in their adult lives. The provision for personal development is of a high quality. “Leaders provide an impressive range of opportunities to help pupils develop their understanding of the world” (Ofsted May 2023). Leaders work with external specialists to ensure that the provision is right for each pupil. This allows pupils with SEND to follow the full curriculum. We work hard to ensure all pupils achieve their academic, social and emotional potential.

We value the opinions of all children and our School Council has regular meetings, discussing a range of issues. All pupils are encouraged to be active participants in their learning and to be responsible for the progress they make and for their achievements.

We want the best for all the children in our school and strive to work closely with parents so we are able to provide each and every pupil with the best possible start in life. We sincerely hope you will get involved in the life of the school and look forward to working with you.

We work hard, ‘nurturing today’s minds for tomorrow’s challenges in a happy place to learn’. Our children should find learning fun and look forward to coming to school each day but the only true way to find out about life at Rothwell Victoria is to walk through the door and experience the positive atmosphere yourself. We look forward to welcoming you into our school community.
